Russia's lower house of parliament, the State Duma, approved Wednesday in the third and final reading the law on the establishment of the space corporation. The law stipulates that Roscosmos will operate in the form of a non-commercial state corporation and will be responsible for implementation of state policies and regulations in the sphere of space exploration, development and manufacture of spacecraft, including military, as well as for coordination of work on development of Russia's Glonass satellite navigation network.

The deputies of the Russian State Duma voted unanimously for the act entitled "On Public Corporation for Space Activity Roscosmos".

Then, according to the coordination procedure, the draft act will be submitted to the Federation Council of Russia’s Federal Assembly for consideration. In case of approval of the Federal Council, the document will be submitted for confirmation to Russia’s president.

The act is aimed at improving the system of space activity management, preservation, and development of Russian rocket and space industry’s research and production potential.
